About Ustentang kami
Started With One Weekend Habit
Hi, I'm Kak Mia — jompasarmalam started as my own weekend habit long before it was a website. Growing up, the pasar malam near my family's house was the highlight of the week: satay smoke, cendol, the whole street lit up for one night only. I never really stopped going.
A few years ago I started keeping a running list — which market ran which night, which ones were worth the drive, which had closed and moved somewhere else. Friends kept asking for the list. Eventually the list became this site: 449 markets across 15 states and regions, checked one by one, kept up to date.
jompasarmalam is a side project I run alongside my day job — not a company, not a listings marketplace. That's on purpose. A market's spot in a list here is earned by real reviews and real signals, never by paying us. See exactly how that works on Kaedah Kami — Our Method.
The site does run ads and affiliate links to cover its costs — full disclosure on the ad disclosure page. That's how the lights stay on; it's separate from, and never influences, which markets get listed or how they rank.
